Mobile phones must not release (too much) nickel
| |
The European Commission has concluded that mobile phones shall come under the nickel directive restricting the use of nickel.

This means there is now a limit as to how much free nickel mobile phones may contain.
The legislation has come into effect, and it is now illegal to sell mobile phones that do not comply with the new regulations.
Head-sets are also covered by the directive.

| Allergies caused by fungicide in goods from China |
| |
A fungicide, dimethyl fumarate, has led to a range of allergic reactions across countries in Europe. The allergies were caused by exposure to dimethyl fumarate in consumer products such as furniture, shoes and riding helmets produced in China.
The fungicide is used in various products to prevent the growth of mould during transportation from China.

In Denmark, the first case of an allergic reaction to dimethyl fumarate was in Ålborg and was due to use of the fungicide in an armchair.

Black henna tattoos

A highly allergenic chemical is sometimes added illegally to dyes used in henna tattoos.

The same chemical is used in many hair dyes.
| |
This can result in severe allergic reactions to hair dyes if the hair is dyed after having a black henna tattoo.
